Condition: VERY GOOD Comments: This nice early example Winchester Model 1892 carbine was manufactured in 1903 and has had minimal use. The early production carbine has about 90% of it's original blue finish and a nice maintained stock and forearm. The round barrel has a steel front sight blade mounted on a block behind the upper barrel band and a folding ladder adjustable rear sight graduated to 200 yards. A staple-mounted saddle ring is located on the left side of the receiver. The stock has a carbine style butt plate. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line legend ” MANUFACTURED BY WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS OF NEW HAVEN CONN. USA. PATENTED OCTOBER 14. 1884″ and “44 W.C.F.” between the rear sight and the receiver. The serial number is stamped across the bottom of the receiver just behind the junction with the forearm. The upper receiver tang is roll-stamped “MODEL 1892 – WINCHESTER – TRADE MARK“. The receiver retains nearly all of the original blue finish that is thinning in places. The barrel and magazine appear to retain nearly all of the original blue with some areas turning plum as is normal for the age. The bore is nice and bright with good prominent rifling. The Walnut stock and forearm are very good with very minor wear showing. Condition is very good plus through out from a rifle that has seen little use in it's 115 years since manufacture.
Cannot fault this rifle, an exceptionally rare find carbine.
